Other than a selected population being more vulnerable (and we haven't seen a coherent analysis of that population) it is no worse than influenza as far as I can find. For younger, non-immunocompromised people it seems to be less serious than influenza.

I had a significant other die of influenza in 2000, and when I started trying to understand why he died I realized that I was at risk personally and studied more.

I have a chronic inflammatory issue and flouroquinolone toxicity which causes mitochondrial dysfunction. I started getting serious about immune support, with extra attention at the first sign of cold or flu after that.

I have not had a serious cold or flu since then. IMO immune support is the major issue.
