To be fair, this the most expensive strain they sell, but prices are based on thc content. $10/gram weed is crap. The quality you get is typically popcorn buds and dried beyond dry.
You should also know that weed in Canada falls under 5 different levels of government as it is a narcotic and a crop plant. It is taxed 4 times before you open the package. The feds tax it twice through excise and gst taxes, the provinces tax it twice through excise and pst taxes. Local municipalities also add to the cost in licensing fees etc.
Now throw in that the corporations that grow and sell it (they made sure the small guy has no chance of getting in on it) need to make a profit and answer to shareholders.
IMHO, legal marijuana in Canada is a terrible investment choice for anything other than a day trade here and there.

*The stuff I grow is +25% thc and I harvest 2-3oz every 2 months in a 2x2x4 tent. I'll never buy weed again unless I absolutely have to.
