That is one of the contents of the Workshop to publish the Report "Vietnam Textile: The impact of Covid-19 and beyond" which will take place in Hanoi on June 29.

The biggest difficulty facing the textile and garment industry comes not only from Covid-19 but also from the change in global production and consumption after Covid-19.

The pandemic has seriously affected the world economy in general and Vietnam in particular, especially in the context of the "flat world", more and more economies depend on each other.

In particular, it is impossible not to mention its negative effects on the textile industry. This is really the "nightmare" of the industry.

At the peak period, export activities to major markets such as China, Japan, the US, EU ... all fell sharply. In which: Apparel export in the first 4 months of 2020 decreased by nearly 10% over the same period, 100% of orders in the first half of the year were canceled.

In fact, the epidemic is dragging along with other social problems such as: Employment status of millions of workers, economic risks and challenges.

Not only major economic powers, in Vietnam, textiles and garments are one of the major economic sectors, contributing to creating jobs for 5% of the total number of employees, contributing 12.4% to the total export turnover. year 2019.

Also in 2020, the Vietnam and the European Union Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) was passed, opening up new opportunities for export promotion as well as restructuring the development direction of the whole industry.

The workshop was conducted by the research group of the Mekong - China Strategic Studies Program (MCSS) of the Center for Agricultural Innovation, Vietnam National Academy of Agriculture, with the participation of a series of speakers.
