The study did not distinguish cash or stock divi, nor did it account for large cap vs. small cap, listed or not. The study only asked investors for their preference.

If you want to believe that everyone in the study was referencing a cash divi, fine. But 70% of Gen-Xers aren't exactly sticking their money into stodgy utility stocks, and they preferred a dividend over a stock buyback. And any dividend, even a stock dividend, can be converted to cash at some point. So if you believe that study has no relevance to AURC I think you're missing the point.

Watch what happens to the PPS the week prior to the stock divi record date and tell me that it doesn't matter to investors.
