Join Casa Navarro State Historic Site manager Georgia Ruiz Davis this Thursday, October 8, at 12 p.m. for a discussion with author, Andrés Reséndez, as they discuss his book, A Land So Strange: The Epic Journey of Cabeza de Vaca: The Extraordinary Tale of a Shipwrecked Spaniard Who Walked across America in the Sixteenth Century.
This work combines scholarship with adventure in a narrative account of explorer, Alvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca’s, disastrous expedition to Florida in 1520.
Reséndez is a professor of Latin American, Mexican, and borderlands studies, at the University of California – Davis. Of note to Casa Navarro followers, Reséndez wrote, A Texas Patriot on Trial in Mexico: José Antonio Navarro and the Texan Santa Fe Expedition, a study of Navarro’s trial after the ill-fated expedition.
