I believe the FDA increased the accuracy requirements as well as you now need an independent lab to check your accuracy. I suspect that initially they excepted the companies results that may not have been as reliable as the FDA needed. One of the first tests approved turned out to only be 50% accurate. Logic dictates that the proverbial excrement hit the ventilating system when that 50% accuracy rate hit the news.
