Have you ever been to an actual "aircraft boneyard"?
They just don't park the airplane and walk away. Because the sun and wind (especially with blowing sand and other fine particles) can seriously damage machinery and glass/plastic quickly, the engines are completely sealed (or removed altogether), all windows are covered, all openings are closed off, and exterior avionics are removed. Preparing a plane for parking takes time and money to do it right, and it takes time and money to get the planes back into flying condition.
I highly doubt that Mexus did anything to preserve that equipment.
