A new cannabis delivery service has launched in Massachusetts.
Blackbird, a cannabis software company owned by TILT Holdings, has partnered with Commonwealth Alternative Care to give medical medical patients access to the dispensary’s products via an online marketplace.
Consumers looking to digitally shop the Taunton-based dispensary’s shelves can sign up for a BlackbirdGo account and begin adding Commonwealth Alternative Care's selection of flower, vape cartridges, pre-rolls, edibles and other products to their online cart.
The BlackbirdGo service allows shoppers to select in-store and curbside pickup, as well as home delivery options, according to a news release.
“Now, more than ever, access to medical cannabis is essential for patients who are unable to visit a dispensary in person,” Blackbird co-founder and TILT Holdings COO Tom Conder said via the release.
TILT said it plans to expand its marijuana delivery services across Massachusetts and add new retail partners in the coming months.
The company’s foray into the Massachusetts market comes about four months after alcohol e-commerce giant Drizly launched Lantern, an on-demand cannabis shopping platform that features products from Revolutionary Clinics. Other copanies, like Garden Remedies, offer their own medical marijuana delivery throughout the greater Boston area.
Delivery of recreational marijuana is not currently permitted in Massachusetts, however. Those services are expected to become available in 2021.
Blackbird says it is currently the no. 1 cannabis delivery service in Nevada, where it boasts a fleet of more than 100 trucks and over 5,000 deliveries per month. An average order on its platform totals $150 and the company currently works with over 400 wholesale and retail operators across Nevada and California, according to its website.
RENO, Nev., Sept. 17, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Blackbird (“Blackbird”), a subsidiary of TILT Holdings, Inc. (CSE: TILT) (OTCQB: TLLTF) (“TILT” or the “Company”) and a leading supplier of software and logistics solutions for cannabis operators, today announced it has launched delivery services in the state of Massachusetts through its proprietary digital cannabis marketplace, BlackbirdGo.
Patients of Commonwealth Alternative Care (“CAC”), a dispensary based in Taunton, Massachusetts are now able to submit orders for CAC’s portfolio of high-quality cannabis products and accessories by visiting www.blackbirdgo.com and signing up for a BlackbirdGo account. Activation is free and typically takes less than five minutes during normal business hours. CAC customers can place their orders by following three simple steps:

“Now, more than ever, access to medical cannabis is essential for patients who are unable to visit a dispensary in person,” said Tim Conder, President and Chief Operating Officer of TILT and Blackbird’s co-founder. “We are proud to be able to bring our industry-leading cannabis delivery technologies to patients of Commonwealth Alternative Care. We look forward to expanding Blackbird’s products and services to include some of Massachusetts' favorite medical and recreational cannabis brands and additional retailers in the near future.”
