Lightning does strike the same place twice and here’s why

Lightning often strikes the same place twice – contrary to popular belief, according to new research. Scientists now believe that bolts don’t come out of the blue but travel along ‘channels’ that are reused. This new finding is based on data from a Dutch radio telescope called LOFAR (Low Frequency Array) that has analysed the weather phenomenon in more detail than ever before.
