I don't mind sharing, at all! Ours is a county Public Health program that does medical case management for children with special health care needs. We ensure that children with chronic, complex, often life-threatening, and disabling medical conditions receive pediatric specialty care. This is important because an adult endocrinologist should not be treating a 3 year old with type-2 diabetes, for example.

Our kids need transplants, have cancer, have blood disorders, metabolic disorders, musculoskeletal conditions, genetic conditions (some conditions so rare that it is unique to the child), and more than I can list. We also manage traumatic injuries that may require substantial rehabilitation and/or multiple surgeries, such as gunshot wounds, car accidents, and most common, scalds and burns. We also manage genetic skin conditions.

Roosevelt started the program in the 30s when he recognized that wealthier children had better polio outcomes than poor children due to the medical management of their condition. He wanted children living in poverty to receive the same treatment. So, here we are almost over 80 years later.
