According to Corning a major player, the market looks great for fiber optics. A buyout for the technology would be great!

Over the past 10 years, the technol- ogy has matured and is now used to monitor thousands of kilometers of pipelines, thousands of oil and gas un- derground wells, and more. With the market for fiber-optic sensing growing at a compound annual growth rate of
10.4 percent a year from 2016-2026, the maturation of the market, applications, and solutions will continue.
