We don’t know what the role chance played in the results we have seen so far .
Thats why you need a large enough double blinded placebo controlled trial , run long enough .....ie properly powered ... to greatly reduce the possibility that your results are due to chance.

In simpler terms ....the coin toss example . If you toss the coin 10 times and it comes up heads 7 times ...do we assume that 70 % of the time ...coins tossed will come up heads.

Of course once news gets out that the drug might work ....it’s harder to recruit placebo controlled trials for that drug


These trials tell us how well the drug works , who and when it works best for and more details on possible adverse events
