These two sentences are from the same paragraph:

"Subsequently, the Company has completed CMC ("Chemistry, Manufacture, and Controls") studies that would be required for an IND ("Investigational New Drug) application to the U.S. FDA."
"The Company is currently conducting studies to finalize its clinical candidate."

How can they have completed CMC studies without finalizing a clinical candidate?

I'm not questioning the truth of what the Company is saying. I just don't understand it. Quit whining and explain it.
