Event announcement: Supreme Court October Term 2020: What’s in Store for Free Enterprise?
Posted Thu, September 3rd, 2020 4:52 pm by Kalvis Golde

On Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2020, at 1 p.m. EDT, the Washington Legal Foundation will host a virtual briefing on free enterprise cases to be argued during the 2020-21 Supreme Court term. The panel will feature Catherine Stetson of Hogan Lovells, Adam Feldman of Empirical SCOTUS and Jonathan Cohn of Sidley Austin. https://www.scotusblog.com/2020/09/event-announcement-supreme-court-october-term-2020-whats-in-store-for-free-enterprise/

Conventional wisdom tells us the cases will be heard December 2020 with a decision by June 2021. However, my spider sense tell's me they could be heard in October with a decision before the next Presidential inauguration. Reasons being: The cases are leftover from last SCOTUS session so time is of the essence, half the decision has already been made in the parallel CFPB case, and all the Justices have had more than ample time to familiarize themselves with the various background cases so hearing it first without distraction just makes sense while resolving the case before the next Presidential term would provide exemplary service from the third branch of the Government earning another feather for their caps.

Having said that, Vegas odds are 1/4 the cases will be heard this year and Vegas is refusing bets on a favorable outcome for plaintiffs and offering 10/1 odds for favorable outcomes for the other 2 branches of da Gooberment big smile
