There are multiple programs for easily mining at home. The issue is revenue verse electricity and hardware depreciation. The average high end processor can yield a whopping 4 dollars a month before associated costs.
Running other applications, and browser integration lowers that amount considerably. I would be surprised if the average users produces a dollar a month. The $40's they reference is impossible without a video card.
