Testing Requirements Effective Immediately
On August 25, 2020, CMS released an interim final rule that announced the following requirements:

• Nursing homes must test staff and residents for COVID-19.
• Laboratories and nursing homes using COVID-19 point-of-care testing devices must report test results.
• Hospitals must provide COVID-19 data to HHS.
• Significant monetary penalties will be assessed for non-compliance.

CMS announced that the effective date of the regulation would be the date the rule was published in the Federal Register. This notice is to inform you that the rule was published in today's Federal Register (09/02/2020), so all components in the rule are effective immediately.
