I just knew that this tech could help with maintenance and operational processes in refining. Exchangers are everything in a refinery. The energy saved by using waste heat to preheat a process is abundant and that is with primitive, pneumatic controls. A human monitoring a process may detect a problem at, let's say, 90% or 95% of its lifespan. AI with continuous monitoring can see problems develop almost in real time. The biggest obstacle to refinery efficiency is unplanned outages. If you see wear as it happens you can target maintenance at YOUR convenience. You can fix all problems at once and your uptime will dramatically increase. That is what I saw when looking at this....potential.
