Well, I for one would be pretty confident before staking my reputation on presenting. This was his "I did it!" moment. I would not even consider presenting on a hunch or what I knew to be junk science.

Ignore the mindless chatter and small intraday penny changes, there will be a "liftoff" moment on ANY public news. Public news WILL be coming as informal peer chatter is already available (IE: "This hospital across town is saving lives with this trial therapeutic")

I have done my DD a while ago which includes information I am holding close to my vest. You should too, but I can tell you that I personally spiked the stock this AM at about 9:45 with my buy orders getting filled.
