Netflix Inc. stock underperforms Tuesday when compared to competitors

NFLX, -3.40% shed 3.40% to $466.93 Tuesday, on what proved to be an all-around grim trading session for the stock market, with the S&P 500 Index SPX, -0.79% falling 0.80% to 3,333.69 and Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.37% falling 0.38% to 27,686.91. This was the stock's third consecutive day of losses. Netflix Inc. closed $108.44 below its 52-week high ($575.37), which the company reached on July 13th.

The stock underperformed when compared to some of its competitors Tuesday, as Amazon.com Inc. AMZN, -2.14% fell 2.14% to $3,080.67, Walt Disney Co. DIS, +1.32% rose 1.32% to $130.49, and Comcast Corp. Cl A CMCSA, -0.07% fell 0.07% to $42.99. Trading volume (7.2 M) remained 357,119 below its 50-day average volume of 7.5 M.
