There will be a new surgery being done in the OR. It is called the ISRG TLIF. Caused from multiple years of chronic flexion of your neck from looking through a viewfinder in order to complete a surgery that could be done with a new robot that utilizes proper body positioning and better ergonomics. The guy on the left looks like he is playing peek a boo.

OH THANK YOU!! MY NECK FEELS MUCH BETTER!!!

Medtronic posted on twitter yesterday related to its robotic assisted surgery program. It was mentioned on stocktwits if you want to pop over and take a gander.

.

When you read the article, it talks about end effectors, better mobility with its robot and it has a comment from a urosurgeon. Interesting that end effectors were mentioned. When they were talking about better mobility, were they referring to HUGO or SPORT? Inquiring minds want to know.

One other comment about the photo of the DaVinci. Was this photo taken in a high school gymnasium? Because that is the size of the operating room you would need to put all that equipment in. Notice you cannot see the anesthesiologist, the anesthesiologist machine or the scrub tech's massive set up and back tables as well as the dry supply cabinet. Hilarious! Not sure about you but the last time I looked, operating rooms were not that large. Perhaps the anesthesiologist and circulating nurse are sitting outside of the room. And if you are that close to the surgical field, you are not allowed to have your back turned to it. And two surgeons at their own stations? The photo reminds me of TV when a patient is talking with an ET tube in their mouth. Can't make it up! Looks great on first glance but then you realize it is not very realistic.
