I don’t like to play the earnings, as the price can gap up or down the following day. Most of the time price going into the earnings is already baked in. Be over-cautious when the price makes an overextended move toward earnings day. Most likely profit taking will follow.

What constitute the price to continue or go in opposite direction is a small segment of the conference call, it is just before the Q&A and after end of the presentation when the CFO/CEO provides guidances. Listen for words like raise/increase in guidances for the next quarter and YoY.

At the moment, I am still in the sideline.

I use both Fundamental and Technical Analysis.
