Multistem ARDS Patient Testimonial
Here is a testimonial from a patient in Cleveland who had ARDS, and received Multistem and it saved her life: ———————-

I know many of you know my story but some do not...but it’s my daily reality... 2 years ago, in early 2018 I was fighting for my life. My family was with me the whole time. I was in the MICU at Elyria hospital for a week with pneumonia. I was told by my nurse, Darla early on a Wednesday morning I had to be transferred to UH Cleveland. I flatly said no. She said if I wanted to live I had to go. An hour later, on I was on life support, in a medical induced coma & that night transferred to UH Cleveland. I was in the ICU on a ventilator for 14 days. I was in a coma 10 days. On Friday, doctors brought in an end of life nurse for my family. I was not expected to live. Saturday, (now this is what I’ve been told) an ‘angel’ walked into a meeting with my family. She talked to them about a muiltstem therapy for ARDS trial. I was a good candidate for the trial because...I had pneumonia I was sepsis, my organs were starting to shut down. My lungs were filling with fluid. I had 3 different IV poles filled with medicine going into my veins. The trial was bone marrow taken from younger person. A blind study, meaning no one in study, doctors or patients knew if it was bone marrow or placebo in a IV. That happened Sunday. Again, I was in a coma had no clue. By Friday I was waking up. Saturday I remember my brothers being with me. Still not able to communicate being on a ventilator. Very weak, could not even tap on my brother, David’s phone. And I could not write. Not being able to communicate...I used my eyes to follow nurses coming in & out of my room. I remember holding my brother, Denny’s hand. His strength going into me. ?By Tuesday, 14 days later the tube came out. With the real possibility of me having a tracheotomy?. I was told to breath in/out & cough hard. My respiratory therapist worked with me. My stats stayed up. I don’t know numbers but it was good enough. I had a tube up nose for what I don’t remember. Following days later a swallow tests...finally some soft food. I was moved to a regular room. Had a lot still going on but I’m alive. I can chew, drink & talk a little. I was transferred to UH Avon rehab. There for 10 days. I very grateful for those therapists. They got me moving. 40 some days later I was home. I had ARDS which is Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome. My lungs are now scarred from this illness. I use oxygen still. I have heart/kidney problems from it. But, I can breathe on my own! That was my reality...still is & my family’s. Covid-19 is a respiratory illness. If I caught this virus I may not live. I have folks in my fb friends that are down playing this virus. You know what my reality is daily? I’m on 12 different meds, I go to doctor appointments for my heart & kidneys & I’m admitted to the hospital a few times a year. Yes it’s still my reality. I lost my job I’m on disability & now I’m on Medicare. I’m only 54 years old, but it is My reality. Don’t play around be a responsibility adult because my life depends on it. If you are sick stay home. Wash your hands...stop fighting wearing a face mask in public?—you all know the drill. Yes it’s hot yes sometimes it’s hard to breathe but it’s ALL OUR REALITY! My retailer friends...thank you! I love you all & I love my brother. You all are working many long hard hours to keep the shelves stocked. Please go easy on those working in the retail business. They HAVE to be masked for their safety & your safety. The medical staff—-YOU GUYS ROCK!!! You are on the front line doing what you do best. You work long hours, never complain (not that we see??) thank you! Folks in Lorain County in my home town Elyria we are in this together. Let’s come together & shine. You all know what to do it’s been all over the news & social media. Thank you & my love to each of you... **This past February before Covid 19 started I received an email from my ‘angel’ Mary. She said...as we all knew I was a recipient of the bone marrow in an IV given to me 2 years earlier that saved my life. I was 1 of the first to be in the blind study. Today that study is now for covid 19.

This woman is very passionate about her experience and openly shares it on her Facebook page.

How is it possible Multistem hasn’t been funded? Where is the urgency?

It’s sad that politicians are playing with people’s lives. 150,000 Covid 19 patients have died in USA, please God have mercy and put some sensibility in to these politicians! Athersys SHOULD be the biotech of the century !!!!!!!!!!
