Because it was a stock divi you didn't need to own it on December 1 to get the divi. You needed to own it at the close on December 15. The only strange thing at this point is most brokerages put all of the divis in over the weekend. Some were not payable until December 20th. That would be those who were not owners of record. Ameritrade still hasn't gotten their investors their divis as of this morning! Those people can't be very happy.
