It appears there are 2 issues, one of which is lack of DRM support. The other is a reported problem in playing even non-encrypted WMA files. Both sinacull and thillaj claim they were told months ago that the next firmware update would fix the problem, but the upgrade that was released after that promise did not fix it.

You are correct - the O-1000 does not support WOW or the Equalizer for WMA files. I complained about this to EDIG five months ago when I first got it. They said it would be fixed in the next firmware release, but, as you know it wasn't!!!

Yes I have contacted edig about my problems with WMA files and they gave the rubber stamp answer of 'it will be addressed in our next firmware up grade' That was before our last upgrade and it was not addressed. However one of the people at the SS booth assured me that it will be fixed. Also if you try to play wma files on the MXP 100 you will find that the equalizer doesn't work on that player either. I am sure everyone here who is invested in edig has bought either the O-1000 and/or mxp-100 and believe in their products enough to stay invested w/ them. I am sure you can verify my statements. One of the people at the SS booth did intimate that edig is working closely with the new WMP 9 and will work seemlessly with it. Also edig is not going after the apple market because it is so small and the iPod has cornered that market. Despite some of the short coming of the O-1000 I am very happy with the product. I really like the the voice nav. feature. Their is no quicker means to get to a specific song than saying it to play it. I also like the fact that I can use it as a drag and drop external hard drive. However, to be a contender w/ the ipod it needs to shrink to the size of the iPod, needs to work seemlessly with a quality music service like MusicMatch and needs the marketing muscle of a corperation like Gateway, HP or Dell. We just have to wait and hope this will manifest in the coming weeks. I am hoping to be 'WOW'ed.
Again... over promise, under deliver.
