Exelon Generation received a conditional DOE cost-share grant in October 2019 that was finalized in April to install a 1-MW scale polymer electrolyte membrane electrolyzer and supporting infrastructure at one of its nuclear plants. The three-year project's budget is $7.2 million, with the utility and DOE splitting the cost. The unit could be operating by 2023, Greenlee said.

Burke said future project work will develop a high-temperature electrolyzer that will use steam from one of its reactors. DOE says nuclear plants, which produce high-temperature steam, could be used in solid oxide electrolyzers that have lower electricity requirements and therefore should have lower costs.



They kicked the can down the road it seems...

So for the next 5 years, all eyes on France then, see if we can make a dent there.
