At this point, they allow me to buy stocks just by my indicating they can take funds from my savings account, even before the transfer is completed. The actual transfer from the bank account may not be settled for a couple of days, but I was able to trade as soon as I put through the transfer of funds request. It's just that for the first couple of trades in the beginning when I first set up the account, they wouldn't let me trade until the funds transfer was complete.
