I think the correct competition is Taser. (AXON). They were definitely stressing a almost painless way of restraining some one which the officers seemed to warm to.

They showed the barbs on the end of the wire I guess that catches the wire as it wraps around but could get into the skin - I hadn't seen them before but makes sense you need to secure the wire.
