Why are any MMs working this hard to squelch any rise for the sake of what has to be a relatively small number of shares at this price? Certainly the shorts are squared away by now.

I can't really see who's benefitting by what appears to be a sort of stalemate. Maybe, retail, inasmuch as we still get to buy in at this price but it seems like everyone has what that want at this price. Action is slow.
