This much hyped project that was originally intended to be demonstrated for >= 5000 hrs, failed at around 2000. It was decommissioned from the Clearway Center and returned to Danbury for forensic evaluation and additional testing.
Looks like commercialization of SOFC is a long long ways off at FCEL! Sad!


The main objective of the project is to test a 400 kWe thermally selfsustaining atmospheric-pressure SOFC prototype system at a prominent site for ≥ 5000 hours and to verify the feasibility of SOFC stack power degradation rate of ≤1.5% per 1000 hours at thermally self-sustained normal operating conditions (NOC) with an average stack operating temperature greater than 700°C.
