WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- The United States and Panama have completed work on a trade agreement, with the exception of further discussions regarding labor issues, the office of U.S. Trade Representative Susan Schwab announced Tuesday. The agreement, which must be ratified by Congress, would eliminate tariffs and other barriers to trade of goods and services and expand trade between the two countries, Schwab said. "The agreement will provide new economic opportunities for U.S. exporters, including significant opportunities to participate in the $5.25 billion expansion plan for the Panama Canal," Schwab said.
