Yesterday was pure manipulation of the arena in which valuation is determined. Unlike real estate valuation, stock market valuation is determined not only each day but every second when the arena is open.

After the 2007 market correction my wife and I slowly moved our asset allocation from 50/50 to 80% real estate 20% stocks. We did this because we were not comfortable with the violent corrections that the stock market is subject to. We as humans cannot help but be emotionally impacted by experiencing a 50% correction in the form of a digital number that reminds us of how we are doing.

The difference is we don’t get a digital daily read out as to the valuation of our real estate portfolio. We know the estimated valuation and if our portfolio is trending up down or sideways. We pay minor attention to exact valuation unless we are considering selling or buying. We sleep better because we don’t get a daily report on how much we lost or gained with each passing day. We also have the comfort of knowing we are one step closer to owning an asset that produces income.

The manipulation of reality in the stock market by spinning a non factual story can momentarily cut ones net worth in half in a blink. This game is not for the weak minded as it looks to prey on mental weakness by further confusing the already confused.

If one cannot see the forest for the trees the reality of what they hold is blurred. The Big Picture as Mr. Ops often refers to is but an illusion.

I have made it this far as have many long time investors by not being faked out along the way. Clarity on the fundamentals of this investment and the value of what we are holding is as clear as the manipulation that took place yesterday.

Today is a new day that will bring added clarity as to the truth and facts. From my perspective another day in paradise.
