I have relatives in Canada (for more anecdotal "evidence"), and they have a hell of a time in getting "elective" procedures done.

Simply on a common sense level, why would you ever expect indifferent bureaucracy to go out of its way to help you. A REAL LIFE "laboratory" experiment is our former VA system. It was a disgrace! Again, no thank you!
