Cell-in-a-Box encapsulated cells to produce interleukin-2 yrs ago

Yeah it all sounds so wonderful as Salmons&Gunzburg keep trying to fish around for a CIAB use. Yep let's whip up or activate those T-cells with IL-2. Oops IL-2 induces proliferation of regulatory T cells (Tregs). Where they suppress the response of T-cells in the TME of a tumor. Oh my, it isn't as simple as having some cells producing IL-2. And how would the IL-2 production be controlled, or if necessary shutdown inside the human body. Salmons&Gunzburg have a little more work to do.

Of course this has nothing to do with PMCB. PMCB holds a license against an expired patent. Where the original patent covered use in solid tumors, and diabetes(?). One could just see Kenny leading the research into creating the next generation of IL-2. Too funny.
