U.S. Congressman Ray LaHood refutes release issued by 21st Century Technologies, Inc.
WASHINGTON, Oct 10, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- 21st Century Technologies, Inc., a Las Vegas, Nevada company, distributed a news release to various media outlets touting its relationship with Congressman Ray LaHood (R-IL), and characterizing actions supposedly taken by the Congressman on behalf of the company. In particular, the news release states:
"Congressman Ray LaHood's (R-IL) congressional staff, both in his home district office of Peoria, Illinois and in Washington, D.C. are working in full cooperation with the Department of Homeland Security for the sought after funding (i.e. federal funding to purchase leak and rupture sealing systems from 21st Century Technologies)."
That statement and other statements made in the September 25 news release concerning Congressman LaHood are grossly inaccurate, said Tim Butler, Communications Director for LaHood.
According to Butler, it has always has been Congressman LaHood's policy not to attempt to influence the procurement processes of federal agencies. The Congressman and his staff adhered to that policy here.
The only action the Congressman's office has taken with respect to 21st Century Technologies has been to forward to the Department of Homeland Security certain company brochures after company officials met with a member of the Congressman's staff.
Butler said the Congressman did not endorse the company's products, and he is not working in any way with the Department of Homeland Security or with 21st Century Technologies to attempt to secure federal funding for the company.
