Not over-thinking it at all. It's very simple. If you place a bid-buy 40-60 ticks below current bid and the bid is already wide in a stock where shares are hard to come by (with low volume like this ticker has), then MM's will take it down by the end of the day. It will happen every time, and then the longs will be blaming it on market sells etc...it's bid buying period. MM's take the opposite of each transaction and many have plenty of shares of said Ticker to keep a liquid market. When they don't have enough shares they widen the spread and eat the bid-buyers who think they are getting a great deal. All the while PPS declines while no-one is selling.

Lets ALL slap the ask and watch what happens. If we bid-buy the PPS will languish.
