I cannot vouch for the veracity of their reporiting, but back in August of 2018 AEI said in an article that Total was not helping ERHC with their legal expenses. And maybe it was just a smoke screen, but that reporting was supported by the 8-K ERHC issued in November of 2018 where they said they were running short of funds and were exploring options including "funding by litigation finance firms".

I wonder if we will ever know what really happened.
