An Iredell County resident lost their life to coronavirus-related illness Tuesday, as the county confirmed 460 cases of COVID-19 Tuesday afternoon. The new death increased the death count from coronavirus, which causes COVID-19, to seven, according to the Iredell County Health Department.

North Carolina reported 36 coronavirus-related deaths Tuesday, marking the biggest day-over-day increase in fatalities from the virus as the state's death toll rose to 1,154, according to data released by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

As of Tuesday, at least 12 Iredell County residents were hospitalized with coronavirus illness and 192 residents who had tested positive were isolating in their homes, health officials said. According to data, the county has seen an increase of at least 51 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since Friday.

The development comes as North Carolina reported 751 COVID-19 confirmations Tuesday, increasing the state's tally to nearly 46,000 cases.
