Epidemiologists vs Clinicians

I don't think there has been much discussion on this slide in Dr. Faro's presentation. It seems to be the highlight of his powerpoint presentation, where he notes

The Nature of our Dilemma (Distilled down to one simple principle)
We are using tests more suited for epidemiologists, not clinicians!

I'm imagining that when he hits this slide, the audience is supposed to gasp and think, "wow, what a great insight!"

But I must be missing some background knowledge because I don't really see the significance of this...

Can anyone explain?
