Automated AI thermal products from Remark Holdings including Thermal Kits, Pads and Helmets have begun shipping and deployment in the U.S. and Japan, according to a company announcement.

Remark recently upgraded the Smart Monitor facial recognition and temperature detection tool of its KanKan AI with new capabilities.

The company’s technology is already being used by casinos, entertainment venues, government and law enforcement agencies, hospitality organizations, industrial businesses and retailers in the U.S. have already selected its AI thermal detection products, Remark Holdings CEO Kai-Shing Tao says.

“Our solutions provide touch-free access control and monitoring, as well as accurate temperature measurement and the ability to scan as many as 120 people per minute, a rate that is approximately 10 times faster than manual checks. Our solutions also filter out non-human heat sources and provide security personnel with real-time alerts with photo identification,” states Tao.

Remark is offering its TK-1 System for identifying and detecting fever among up to 120 people per minute, leveraging AI software integrated with a calibrated, bi-spectral thermal camera. It provides temperature accuracy within 0.3 degrees Celsius from between two and five meters away, and mounts on walls, tripods or ceilings to scan wide areas, according to the announcement. The R-Pad integrates with access control and gate terminals to provide facial and object recognition with infrared thermal imaging. The Thermal Helmet and Kiosk further expands the range of deployments available.

“We designed our family of thermal detection products to meet the specific needs of our customers,” adds Tao. “While thermal-imaging camera technology has been available for years, we have created what we believe are industry-leading solutions by integrating our award-winning AI software with very high-grade thermal-imaging cameras. Additionally, our AI-based temperature scanning solutions have operated successfully in Asia for nearly a year.”

MPS kiosk provides hand sanitation compliance and biometrics

Municipal Parking Services (MPS) goes a step further for its fever detection access control kiosk with optional facial recognition, with audited hand sanitation compliance. The kiosk can also detect face masks to enforce public safety mandates.

The Sentry Health Kiosk is adapted from the company’s line of touchless smart parking products, which are currently used around the world, according to the announcement. The kiosk also enables remote or on-site video interaction through a smart screen.

“Studies show that most people with Covid-19 are asymptomatic, so having a device that just takes temperatures is inadequate at best,” comments Joe Caldwell, founder of Sentry Health. “According to experts, the best way to protect yourself and mitigate the spread of a virus is simply to wash your hands. Sentry Health Kiosk is the only system that checks both boxes – temperature reading and audited hand sanitization. If a person doesn’t complete the process, they simply can’t come in.”

MPS says it is expanding its production capacity to meet booming demand, and the company will donate 5 percent of the profits from its Sentry Health products to provide the kiosks to food banks and other organizations.
