>>>BIG PROBLEM: About 1/2 the power produced by the engine will be devoted to swing a HUGE alternator to make enough electricity to produce the staggering amount of Hydrogen required:

1 Kilo of H2 = 1 gallon of gasoline

1 Kilo of H2 = 11,100 liters of H2 (H2 = 0.9 gram per liter)

If a car averages 30 miles/gallon of gasoline, it will consume 2 gallons at an average speed of 60 miles/hour in one hour and require 22,200 liters of Hydrogen...

Doug Bender claims that his electrolysis process is 2 to 2.5 times more efficient than conventional and that 1 Watt/hour produces 1 liter of hydrogen. Hence, 22,200 Watts/hours will be expended in one hour in the above example...

To convert to Hp: 22,200 Wh over 746 = 29.76 HorsePower

Even though a vehicle may have an engine rated at 150 Hp, in practice, at cruising speed it only uses a fraction of the nameplate Hp, say around 60 to 70 Hp: so, effectively, about 1/2 the car's Hp will be devoted to produce Hydrogen...

This is hardly feasible with Bender's current technology, as for the car to obtain the same top speed as it would with gasoline, the engine will need to have double the HorsePower and triple the weight when the size/weight of the alternator is also taken into account...

So, to reach top speed, the size of the alternator would have to approximately double, from 22.2 Kw (able to supply 22,200 watts/hour) to around 50 Kw: here are the pictures of 50 Kw generators to give you an idea of the problem:

To work out, this technology needs to produce 1 liter of Hydrogen using 1/10th of a Watt and this just happens to exist and it is patented by Mr Kanarev:

PS: I have copied this post to Doug Bender for comments and will let you know if I get any...
