im still a little bit unsure on this. lets say i was the ceo of say proctor and gamble.. do think it would be ok to send my customers a box of tide laundry detergent to use ?

Of course. A long time ago, many big companies did that. My grandfather had stock in Domino Sugar, and they always sent him a package full of their products at Christmas. It wasn't a divvy, though, just a gift.
