However solar power production is inherently less expensive and less environmentally damaging than wind generated power.

Mainly no bird strikes, no big wind turbines, no need to shut power production down in high winds, lower noise form factors, less of a blight on the landscape, and less maintenance because solar panels are static.

Military vs commercial engines:
Governments (not just the US) subsidize military power plant production. Goes directly to what I suggested yesterday about backhanded subsidies to defense contractors.

$GE has good assets and good workers, but shitty managers.
