Enea Trevisan says Ealixir guarantees you the right to be forgotten on the Web
By José Peguero -June 14, 2019

In the Dominican Republic, the Right to be Forgotten on the web is not a right established by law or constitutionally, but every day more people send letters of requests to the digital media or blogs so that some negative information that has been published about them can be removed .

These requests are not made public, only some have sporadically become voiced. There is the fact of a journalist accused of sexually abusing his 3-year-old granddaughter and who, after spending 43 days in detention at the La Victoria prison, it was shown that he had not incurred in this crime but had been revenge on his daughter-in-law against her youngest son.

Despite the fact that the communication professional managed to prove his innocence and requested the media to withdraw the information disclosed during those almost 50 days, three years have passed and his name is still stained on the big web.

"The right to be forgotten constitutes the right of people to remove unwanted links or negative reports in their account when they are no longer current and deserving of public interest", explains Enea Angelo Trevisan, expert in the field and co-founder from Ealixir.

Trevisan, through Ealixir , is responsible for protecting the online reputations of individuals and companies by helping to rebuild their digital history.

As experts in the field, he ensures that the right to be forgotten does not interfere in any way with press freedom, but that journalists have the sacred right to report all valuable news.

“There is the right of the press to publish everything, and I emphasize it, everything that is considered worthy of attention. But if the news has ceased, there is also the right of people to return to anonymity and try to rebuild a life, "says Trevisan

He also pointed out that having a negative link on the web means seeing his reputation destroyed, which pushes the individual into a spiral in which he is unable to work and support his family.

"The right to be forgotten protects the right of innocent people or those who have served their sentences to rebuild their lives," he said. And just is the case of the Dominican journalist of whom there was proven irrefutable innocence.

Ealixir addresses the right to be forgotten, removing all inappropriate links and even those features in newspaper articles.

"The most advanced law is undoubtedly the European one, however, thanks to the experience accumulated over the years, we are able to operate in most of the world without any difficulty," he said.

The Spanish Supreme Court issued a judgment on October 15, 2015 established “the so-called 'right to digital forgetfulness” and obliges web page editors or search engine managers to eliminate the processing of their personal data when it is they associate with facts that are not considered positive.

Ealixir who manages the reputation of brands says that the right to be forgotten is now a global need and a consolidated right in different areas of the world, so that its recognition will continue inexorably in the coming years and can no longer be stopped.
