I have always thought that a visit to a National Cemetery should be a mandatory school trip for all students within a reasonable distance from one as there is no better place for them to gain a perspective on the privileges we all share as Americans, the cost that has been incurred over the years by those who fought to allow us such privileges, and for them to come to realize the respect such devotion to our freedom by these Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors, Coast Guard, and Marines should be shown. These cemeteries to me reflect my extended family of true Americans and which is felt by all veterans. Education is so much more than just learning facts and figures, it is also developing patriotism and a love for your country by realizing what has been paid by our forefathers to give us such a wonderful country.

If you are not prepared to die in the defense of this country, you shouldn't be a citizen. Not saying everybody needs to be on the front line, but all should realize that those that do or have put themselves in the most dangerous position possible for this country should be shown the respect they have earned by putting themselves directly in harm's way.

Thank you for your service CMCrazy, Semper Fi to my fellow Marines, and a salute to all family members (especially wives and children, mothers and fathers and siblings) of those who fell as their loss and sacrifice is recognized beyond belief by all who had to share in the loss of a loved one.

This is a day of reflection, thankfulness, and sadness at the terrible price that has had to be paid for our freedoms. Let's hope the general public comes to realize the price in blood and tears that has been paid for them.
