I'm not a fan of short selling, period. US laws are at best overly lax and I would be fine if the practice were abolished all together.

If you want to bet against a company then buy its competition. The idea of betting a company fails is anti American IMO. And beyond that I believe the temptation to try and falsely manipulate and manufacture fake disaster is too great.

But I also believe the country has shown that economic risk will be bailed out and as a result it's no longer risk. I hear of hedge funds levered 12x. It's surreal.
