It's not hard to understand.

Cold weather causes mulberry to grow much slower in the winter months of Vietnam. This meant the normal yield they would have attained from their acreage (or hectares) would be less than the other warmer seasons. They foresaw this as a challenge and prepared appropriately by contracting mulberry outside of their direct network.

This mulberry was tainted by pesticide overspray from surrounding crops. Silkworms are very sensitive to any pesticides, even small amounts that wouldn't be noticed by anyone until it's too late.

So yes, the cold weather caused the change in protocols, temporarily, to outsource mulberry from outside their co-ops. The company wasn't blindsided by cold weather like some would have you believe.

FWIW, cat already being out of the bag n'all. Might as well get the facts straight.
