The true revolution for abdominal surgery was laparoscopy itself, where several 1/4 to 1/2 inch incisions are all that’s required to do very complex procedures. The other Great Leap Forward was the implementation of enhanced recovery pathways which optimize perioperative care of specific patient groups (e.g. colectomy) which have helped reduce hospital stays by 1-3 days.

So if I understand that right: "enhanced recovery pathways"

This refers to where exactly to make incision/holes for laparoscopic/robotic instruments ?

Which is why although it would hurt I could probably do a sit-up ?
