Of note, Galectin-3 has long been considered an attractive drug target in combating various forms of TGF-ß-mediated fibrosis and pathological inflammatory conditions (Brinchmann et al., 2018; Mackinnon et al., 2012; Shen et al.,2018; Yu Lili et al., 2013). Inhibition of Galectin-3-mediated signalling pathways hence represents another potential therapeutic target against COVID-19.”
