Seems one of 2 Corona Virus scenarios is probable and one very Improbable.

1. They were playing with fire (making a virus STRONGER and more INFECTIOUS -- This is called 'Gain of Function') and set the world ablaze through an accident (virus escaped). Think kids with a chemistry set, willy nilly combining different chemicals and subsequently burning the house down.

2. It was designed as a bio weapon and escaped. It was in the early stages of development, and escaped before they could make it more lethal.

Improbable: It jumped species from bats.
