PipeBeach, partners Deliver VoiceXML Portal
PipeBeach AB and its partners, Philips Speech Processing and Infovox, announced that they have completed the installation of what they call the first fully VoiceXML-based voice portal for a mobile operator, the Swedish GSM operator Europolitan Vodafone AB.
The Europolitan Vodafone voice portal is based on PipeBeach's carrier-grade VoiceXML platform speech-Web and speechWeb Portal application. SpeechWeb supports the emerging VoiceXML Web standard using an open speech component architecture. The speechWeb system deployed by Europolitan Vodafone uses Philips Speech Processing's SpeechPearl 2000 speech recognition engine and Infovox text-to-speech synthesis.
PipeBeach said the speechWeb Portal application is a VoiceXML application that lets the mobile operator rapidly introduce various applications. The Europolitan Vodafone voice portal includes services such as weather, financial news, sports, news and entertainment. Because of its open architecture, new services can be rapidly added to the voice portal. The speechWeb Portal application also lets user personalize the speech interface through the Europolitan Vodafone Web site. The speechWeb Portal includes advanced functionality for dynamic adjusting of the speech user interface based on the experience level of the user
